Sharma excited about ‘homecoming’ in India and on the Asian Tour

Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma is well aware of the challenging competition he will face at the International Series India, starting Thursday at DLF Golf and Country Club. Despite the presence of LIV Golf stars like Bryson DeChambeau and Joaquin Niemann, Sharma believes the local talent will be strong due to the growth of the Asian Tour and The International Series.

Sharma, a two-time Asian Tour winner who has recently competed on the DP World Tour, proudly notes the significant progress of Indian golf over the past decade. He credits the Asian Tour for his career development, having won the Order of Merit in 2018. This week, he is joined by other notable Indian players like Anirban Lahiri and Gaganjeet Bhullar.

Sharma appreciates the improved competition and depth in the fields, which he attributes to The International Series. He views this event as a homecoming, both in terms of playing in India and returning to the Asian Tour, where he feels more relaxed and familiar with the atmosphere. The event is part of a $2 million tournament, marking the second Asian Tour event and the first International Series event of the season.
